Newmont Goldcorp has started commercial production at its afo Mill Expansion (AME) in Ghana for approximately 175m. Combined with the Subika Underground operation completed last November, the expansion is expected to increase afos average annual gold production to between 550,000oz and 650,000oz a year until 2024, while reducing lifeofmine (LoM) processing costs.
The expansion is expected to increase average annual gold production by between 75,000 and 100,000 ounces per year for the first five years beginning in 2020. Capital costs for the project are estimated at between 140 and 180 million with expenditure of approximately 40 to 50 million in 2017.
